Sunday 19 JUne: Divine Darkness

The Trinity is the most characteristic element of the Christian understanding of God.   The doctrine is a helpful construct but it is not God.   God, or whatever we mean by that term, is Mystery dwelling in silence darkness.

The narrative of the sacrifice of Isaac by his father, Abraham, is a haunting story. What place can such brutality have in the spirituality of the 21st century? In fact, this is faith narrative and the meaning is never on the surface.
