It is some 20 years since the last initiative to start new House Groups and there was a new one in 2008. House Groups are a way of strengthening one another in our faith journeys, for any age and any stage of life - no previous experience necessary other than a desire to grow in faith in a non-threatening and supportive environment.

Benefits

  • Develop and deepen faith
  • Broaden understanding of the gospel
  • Fellowship and fun in small groups of 6-8 in members homes
  • Members of existing House Groups use phrases such as "helpful", "educational", "good for me and my faith", "lots of laughs", "fellowship and support in times of crisis", "environment for getting involved in outreach and faith in action projects"

The books / study material will be provided in the first instance by the Church - groups then go on to make their own choices.

Categories of subject offered are:

  • Bible based (verse by verse study)
  • Justice and peace issues (eg climate change, slavery)
  • Books on Christian themes (eg works of Richard Holloway)
  • Spiritual issues including writings (eg works of Celtic writer David Adam), prayer and meditation
