The congregation of Free Tron Church in Chambers Street moved to a new building in East Suffock Road in 1899 and, after this move, the congrgation adopted the name of Craigmillar Park Free Church. Following the union of the United Presbyterian Church and the Free Church of Scotland in 1900, Craigmillar Park Free Church became Craigmillar Park United Free Church and upon the 1929 union of the United Free Church of Scotland and the Church of Scotland, Craigmillar Park United Free Church became Craigmillar Park Church of Scotland.

On 3 April 1966, a union occured with the nearby congregation of Mayfield South Church. At this point the builing was sold to St Margarets School for use as a hall. The new united congrgation used the Mayfield South buildings.

The building was designed by Sydney Mitchell and Wilson in late gothic style. A turreted belfry and octagonal spire were planned to complete the tower but never constucted.
