Call to Worship
From Psalm 86: 10 - 12
Leader: You are great, O Lord, and do wonderful things; you alone are God.
People: Teach us Your ways, Lord, that we may walk in Your truth.
Leader: We give thanks to You, Lord our God, and we will glorify Your name forever.
People: For Your love is great towards each one of us…You are merciful
and gracious, slow to anger and full of love and faithfulness.
Leader: Let us praise and give thanks, let us worship God!
Hymn 202 Stand Up and Bless the Lord
(t. Carlisle)
Prayer of Approach, Praise, Confession and The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily
bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the
power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
All-Age Reflection
Hymn Bind Us Together
Bind us together,
Lord, bind us together
with cords that cannot
be broken;
bind us together, Lord,
bind us together,
O bind us together with love.
1. There is only one God,
there is only one King,
there is only one Body -
that is why we sing:
2. Made in the image of God,
reflected in His precious Son.
Born with the right to be free:
Jesus the victory has won.
3. We are the family of God,
we are His promise divine,
we are His chosen desire,
we are His glorious new wine.

Reading Psalm 65:1 - 8
Read by Karen Madill (OT p539)
1 Praise is due to you, O God, in Zion;
and to you shall vows be performed,
2 O you who answer prayer! To you all flesh shall come.
3 When deeds of iniquity overwhelm us,
you forgive our transgressions.
4 Happy are those whom you choose and bring near
to live in your courts.
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house,
your holy temple.
5 By awesome deeds you answer us with deliverance,
O God of our salvation;
you are the hope of all the ends of the earth
and of the farthest seas.
6 By your strength you established the mountains;
you are girded with might.
7 You silence the roaring of the seas,
the roaring of their waves, the tumult of the peoples.
8 Those who live at earth’s farthest bounds are awed by your signs;
you make the gateways of the morning and the evening shout for joy.
Reading Hosea 11:1 - 5 & 8b - 11
Read by Karen Madill (OT p857)
The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax-Collector 9 [Jesus] also told this
parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and
regarded others with contempt: 10 ‘Two men went up to the temple to
pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax-collector. 11 The Pharisee,
standing by himself, was praying thus, “God, I thank you that I am not like
other people: thieves, rogues, adulterers, or even like this tax-collector. 12 I
fast twice a week; I give a tenth of all my income.”
13 But the tax-collector, standing far off, would not even look up to heaven,
but was beating his breast and saying, “God, be merciful to me, a sinner!”
14 I tell you, this man went down to his home justified rather than the
other; for all who exalt themselves will be humbled, but all who humble
themselves will be exalted.’
Hymn 567 Focus My Eyes on You

Closing Responses
From St Patrick
Leader: May the strength of God pilot us;
People: May the wisdom of God instruct us,

activities include inviting the students for a meal, showing them the local

opportunity to offer a warm Scots welcome to these students which is

all the usual protocols and safeguards are still operative.
The Kirk Session wishes to express its continuing gratitude to those who
support the Church's work through their offerings. Covid restrictions have
prevented circulation of the ‘plate’ during services but those who would
have wished to use it may make use of the bowls marked ‘Plate Collection’
